HydroGuard® scald prevention device prevents skin burns from a burst of hot water.

The HydroGuard® high temperature shut off device protects
your skin from exposure to water that could burn you!
The average water heater is often set at 120º or higher. This is too hot for direct exposure to skin, so it is mixed with cold water to make the temperature safe. Unfortunately, if the cold water is suddenly unavailable there isn't anything to moderate the water temperature.
The HydroGuard® scald guard monitors the shower's water temperature and reduces the water flow to a trickle if it is hotter than 115º. Once the water goes below that temperature again, the shower will automatically return to a normal flow.
The anti-scald device twists on between your existing shower head and the pipe. The scald guard only interferes with the normal flow of water to the shower head when the temperature is too high.
AM Note: When the flow of water slows to a trickle, SHUT OFF both hot and cold for 30 seconds to one minute, then slowly add cold water until water flow is normal and then again slowly add hot. This device prevents scalding injuries; it is not a pressure flow device which keeps water flow at a specific temperature.
