Aluminum Threshold Ramps |
Print this page |
|
Aluminum Threshold Ramps are an easy-to-install solution that make it easier to get over the threshold at the door.
|
|
Threshold Ramps provide a smoother transition over a doorway threshold.
These threshold ramps are used for more accessible doorways, sliding glass doors and raised landings. They are lightweight yet durable and will not rust. The surface is grooved to prevent skidding.
The weight capacity of 600 lbs, can handle most scooters (and their passengers).
The ramp width is 34", equal to the average door width.
The larger ramps include several pieces that interlock, so you can easily build the ramp up to the right size.
Measure the height of your threshold and choose the correct size in the chart below. (Please keep in mind when ordering that a longer ramp will provide a more gradual incline. The ADA recommends a 5º slope for ramps. A soft incline makes it easier to self-propel or be pushed up the ramp.)

To establish the proper ramp length:
Determine the incline that your scooter is designed to climb. For wheelchairs, the incline should be no greater than 5° or it will be too hard to push or too steep to descend properly.
Measure the rise. (This is the distance from the top step, porch, van, etc. to the ground)
Refer to the Incline Chart to find the proper ramp length.
At any incline, use the ramp with a qualified helper.
